About the Summit
The Texas Africa Business Summit is cooperative effort between the US State Department, the US Department of Commerce, the Office of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism, the City of Houston, the Ethio-American Trade & Investment Council, the International Trade Center along with other important local partners and organizations.
The Summit will take place at Rice University, Shell Auditorium on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 and at the International Trade Center, 11110 Bellaire Blvd, 2nd Floor, Houston, TX 77072 on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. We anticipate over 300 small businesses, entrepreneurs, ambassadors, and key government city and state department officials will attend the Texas Africa Business Summit.
The purpose of the Summit is to bring together corporate leaders and policy makers to create shared opportunities and strengthen US-Africa relations with a focus on global business and economic development.
Our objective is to initiate mutual public/private partnerships, to promote economic growth, integration, and free trade between Texas and Africa. This three day Texas Africa Business Summit will provide comprehensive information on the latest trade and investment opportunities across Africa’s most promising sectors.
Participants will have the opportunity to network with key African and US private sector and government leaders, identify specific growth areas and hear detailed information about projects that are ripe for investment.
Participants will discover the latest financing options, meet potential business partners, as well as African Ambassadors and key government officials, and learn about the Africa policies of the Obama administration.
